Lay the Foundation for Academic Success With Our Writing Workshops for Students

Proficiency in written communication is a necessary skill for most school subjects whether doing a lab report or composing an essay. That’s why perfecting your child’s writing skill is critical for academic success.

Moreover, writing is also a way of training the mind to think. Writing exercises provide a structure through which students think through what they want to say and how they want to say it. With strong writing skills, your child will be able to demonstrate their comprehension of complex concepts with ease and confidence, resulting in higher grades and better exam outcomes.

Writing Workshops for Elementary Students in Boston, MA

Grades 3-5

All too often, writing is pushed to the side in an elementary school classroom. This is a shame because writing is a fundamental part of effective communication. Young students need to continuously practice things like writing fluency, writing stamina, and generating ideas to strengthen their abilities, even in elementary school.

The purpose of our writing workshops for elementary students is to teach young learners in the third, fourth, and fifth grades the basic writing skills necessary to succeed on assignments given in their school classes. The program focuses on providing young students an introduction to brainstorming ideas and organizing 3-paragraph essays, including drafting and revising their essays to create original and polished papers — even at a young age. Overall, students will learn the fundamentals of key writing concepts that must be mastered to be excellent writers.

Writing Classes for Middle Schoolers in Boston, MA

Grades 6-8

In middle school, children are exposed to a variety of writing styles, including written responses on standardized tests, in-class essays, and text messages with their friends. As a young learner navigating these different modes of writing, your child may become confused about how to achieve the correct tone of voice in their writing. Fortunately, they can receive extra guidance from a certified instructor in essay training classes for students. These writing classes for middle schoolers will cover everything from subject-verb agreement, sentence fragments, and punctuation to structured essay writing.

During our middle school writing workshop, we teach students the writing skills necessary to succeed on written assignments for middle school and early high school classes, as well as on standardized tests. The course focus is on brainstorming and graphing ideas, organizing the essay, drafting, peer editing and review, and final revisions. By the end of these writing courses for students, your child will have learned how to convey their ideas effectively in various literary styles.

Writing Programs for High School Students in Boston, MA

Grades 9-12

Preparing for the transition from high school to college is not all about determining the characteristics of the perfect roommate or deciding which major to declare. It’s about getting a student’s academic skills up to par so that they can excel in their college courses. While in high school, essay writing is primarily reserved for English classes, but in college, students will be required to write papers in multiple classes, including English, history, and science. For this reason, participation in preparatory writing programs for high school students is highly encouraged.

Our writing programs for high school students are designed to teach students the analytical composition skills necessary to receive top scores in high school classes and standardized tests, as well as prepare them for the rigors of college-level writing. Students will conduct extensive text analysis and present their ideas in polished, sophisticated essays that demonstrate higher-level engagement with text and writing.

Communities We Serve

Effective writing skills are essential to success not only in school but in life. When a student knows how to write well, they know how to express, share, and debate their thoughts and beliefs in writing and orally. Once they have these skills down, they will be thought leaders throughout their life.

You can equip your student with the skills they need to achieve success by enrolling them in a writing enrichment class. We offer a variety of writing workshops for students in Boston, MA, and the surrounding areas, including Allston, Andover, Belmont, Boston, Braintree, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chestnut Hill, Dorchester, East Boston, Lexington, Malden, Newton, Newton Center, Newton Highlands, Newtonville, Quincy, Roxbury Crossing, Sharon, South Boston, West Newton, West Roxbury, and Winchester.

ASC Writing Workshop Teacher

Testimonials

"I was enrolled in another program in which there were only children who were very advanced. The instructors did not know how to teach students who were performing at their regular grade level, and it was a waste of time. The teachers at ASC are always very prepared, they explain things clearly, and the homework aligns with the lessons."
