Writing Competition Course

Grades 9-12

Admission to highly competitive universities has never been more challenging. The key to a successful application is standing out from the hundreds of other highly qualified applicants. ASC offers high school students a unique way to attract attention to your essays from these top universities: earn recognition in national writing competitions!

No matter what you want to major in at college, writing is a critical skill that all top-rated universities look for in a successful applicant. It does not matter what you know if you can’t convey it clearly and coherently in writing. The ability to write exciting and compelling papers has never been more important.

The A+ Program’s Writing Competition Course allows high school students to explore their creativity and passion for writing, while also preparing them to excel in their academic and professional futures. The course agenda addresses teaching integral and effective writing strategies for genres such as poetry, short stories, expository, and personal narratives, as well as developing and practicing life success skills such as goal setting and time management. By the end of this course, students will complete 2 to 3 writing competition submissions based on the contests they individually research and select at the beginning of the course. Each writing competition has its own deadline and application process; therefore, each student will individually meet with their instructor on how to tackle each writing submission and entry form to ensure deadlines are met and quality work is produced. In the A+ Program’s Writing Competition Course, students will feel accomplished and, hopefully, receive a prestigious award!
