Summer Enrichment Programs: Advanced English and Math

Get a head start for the coming school year by attending the A+ Summer Program!

Summer isn’t just a time to relax and have fun.  It’s also the ideal season to get a jump-start on the academic challenges all students will face as they move to the next grade level. During the months of July and August, the A+ Program offers two intensive sessions in which students study materials and concepts that are taught in their upcoming grade level.

Summer sessions are run with the same rigor and intensity as the regular school year.  Our curriculum is carefully designed by accredited teaching professionals to exceed state standards for students of all grades.  By going above and beyond regular curriculum, the A+ Summer Program is perfect for gifted learners and talented students eager to accelerate their academics and develop the skills they’ll need in college.

English Reading and Writing Enhancement

The A+ English Program features a comprehensive mix of literature and composition that will enable our students to excel in writing and test-taking.

We focus on:

  • Engaging with advanced-level texts to prepare students for the upcoming school year.
  • Nurturing critical thinking skills through interactive discussions and challenging writing assignments.
  • Active reading and notetaking to improve overall reading comprehension.
  • Brainstorming ideas and creating detailed outlines for all essay writing tasks.
  • Effectively structuring, organizing and developing ideas to produce polished and sophisticated essays.

Advanced Learning in Mathematics

The A+ Math Program employs a challenging new mathematics curriculum that helps students excel in mathematics at any level. Our comprehensive Math Program addresses basic skills to advanced mathematical concepts. We provide the fundamentals for success both in the classroom and on standardized tests.

Students will:

  • Work with challenging course materials that encourage advanced thinking.
  • Learn to interpret and solve word problems.
  • Boost study skills and practice test-taking strategies.
  • Refine math skills through homework, quizzes and a final exam.

A+ Full-Day Summer Program gives students the opportunity to take a class in the morning and participate in fun, educational activities in the afternoon.

Our afternoon program activities include creative writing workshops, public speaking training, STEM, test-taking skills, arts and crafts, and organizing and performing in a talent show. We take advantage of Boston’s many educational and historical sites to encourage learning outside of the classroom. In the A+ Full-Day Program, students might visit:

  • The Boston Public Library
  • The Museum of Fine Arts
  • The Massachusetts State House
  • The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
  • The Institute of Contemporary Art
  • The Museum of Science
  • The USS Constitution
  • And many more…

A+ TOEFL Test Preparation
The A+ Full Day Summer Program is an additional $560 to the morning class tuition. This additional fee includes afternoon activity materials, transportation to afternoon activities and admission fees. Lunch is not included.

“Our experience started with the summer enrichment program. We saw children wearing the A+ tee-shirt on an school- wide outing one day. We were looking for an enrichment program in which our son could keep from getting rusty on math skills during the summer vacation. We then started sending him to classes to prepare for the SSAT/ISEE as well as to support 7th grade math. He loves it! “Mom, I found like-minded kids – The are very smart and they like to play video games!”

Henry

My son, Henry, attends the Boston Latin school and is currently a 7th grader. This is quite an accomplishment for him, since he is dyslexic and dysgraphic. He took the Middle School Writing workshop last summer and I think it helped him a lot going into this year. He seems to agree and would like to come back this summer since he still struggles with writing fluency. Last summer, Henry liked the teacher and the Diana King's curriculum was a great fit.
