The widespread adoption of technology means that careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields are on the rise. Many of our younger students are growing up in a time where using digital devices like smartphones, computers and the internet are familiar to them from an early age.
Although this already gives them an advantage over older generations, in order to truly stand out from the crowd, they must broaden their understanding of how technology works. Introducing students to digital and STEM subjects early on means that they have extra time and opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed in the future.
Our winter break workshop is the perfect chance to introduce your child to the STEM field and encourage their interest in an industry that is expected to grow in the coming years. Read on to find out more about what students can learn about programming and robotics at ASC A+.
Although in many ways robotic technology may seem like a futuristic concept, advances in STEM have made what once was only an idea into a reality. This means that the future will hold incredible opportunities for people with training in areas such as programming and engineering. In order to have access to those opportunities, however, the young scientists of today must first be introduced to the subjects that will become increasingly more prevalent as they grow older.
Our winter workshop is a way for students to gain a deeper understanding of STEM. Learning the basics of how things operate can not only be a rewarding educational experience, it can also encourage a student’s personal interest and passion in a STEM-related field. By integrating programming and robotics into our STEM winter program, your child has the opportunity to explore and familiarize themselves with specialized skills which can benefit them in the future. There are no prerequisites and all that we ask for is open-mindedness and a healthy appetite for discovery.
There are many ways to learn new things, and one of the best methods is to go outside the realm of books and dive into a lesson hands-on. Practical work gives students a different perspective when approaching a new topic and engages their minds in a fun and exciting way. This form of conceptual learning focuses on exploring how something works rather than the memorization of facts and has the potential to further enrich your child’s understanding of programming and robotics.
A STEM program teaches more than the basics, it can also encourage students to think innovatively, creatively and resourcefully, traits which will be highly prized and sought after in their future. Our winter course gets students up close and familiar with how robotics and programming works and gives them the resources they need to use their new knowledge and skills to their advantage in their school curriculum and beyond.
