Dear Parents and Guardians,
The last few years have been historically convulsive ones for education in America. Some 1.3 million children left public schools during the pandemic, and schools have reported major increases in rates of student depression, anxiety, and trauma. School districts around the country are experiencing severe teacher shortages. Last fall, a Gallup poll found that only 42 percent of adults were satisfied with the nation’s public schools, a 20-year low.
This is not the worst of what happened. In addition, the most recent National Assessment of Educational Progress (known as the nation’s report card) revealed the largest average score decline in reading since 1990, and the first average score decline in math since 1969. With so many challenges facing students, it’s clear that they will need extra support to just catch up to where they should be. Without extra support, our students will not excel in their studies.
As the school year comes to a close, we want to remind you of the importance of providing your child with the necessary academic support to succeed. Education is the most important investment you can make for your child. This investment is more important than investments in sports or arts at this time in our history! Our Summer Education ELA and Math Program is designed specifically for Boston students and is the best way to help your child improve their reading and math skills while also boosting their confidence and preparing them for the next academic year. ASC has been offering our Summer A+ Academic Enrichment Program for 30 years. Each year we have prepared our students for success in their next school year.
